GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 9, 2023) - Mark Dobmeier may be one of the hottest Sprint Car drivers in America right now, as the Grand Forks, ND driver parked the Buffalo Wild Wings / Lunstra Motorsports No. 13 in victory lane at Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon, MN on Sunday night, scoring his fourth straight Northern Outlaw Sprint Association series win, and his eighth win with the series in the last ten series races. A light weekend on the calendar saw Dobmeier's only race being Sunday's visit to Buffalo River. Dobmeier won his heat race from the pole and redrew the fourth starting spot for the 30-lap main event.
Dobmeier quickly moved to the second spot on the initial start before a caution on the second lap. Dobmeier took the lead on the ensuing pair of second lap restarts in fine form featuring a huge wheelie down the backstretch. A couple of wheelies on the tacky quarter-mile which was inundated by rain one night prior eventually saw the front wing on Dobmeier's mount collapse. Dobmeier was preparing to work lapped traffic for the first time on lap five, but a caution gave Dobmeier clean air until lap eight when he made his first trip through traffic. Another caution just before the midway point and another three circuits later saw Dobmeier continue as the leader until a red flag with ten to go. Dobmeier held off Jade Hastings following restarts on laps 21 and 23 as the second-place runner pulled even on each new drop of the green. Dobmeier pulled away in the waning laps to score his ninth NOSA victory of the season, and 183rd overall. “It was definitely tricky,” Dobmeier said in victory lane. “We could ride wheelies in the front of it. Apparently, it was too tough for my front wing there, but it was a good racetrack, and we were able to put on a great show.” Dobmeier continued, “double fire restarts create opportunity. It can help you or it can hurt you. That position has hurt me a little bit, but I knew if I got a good run on the top and held my lane, I'd be able to zip around them. It was pretty tight there, but we got her done.” This week, Dobmeier and the 13 team head to Iowa for the 62nd Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway, with Wednesday night scheduled as Dobmeier’s qualifying night.
