GRAND FORKS, N.D. (September 6, 2023) - Following winning the third annual Wayne Anderson Cup title Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, Mark Dobmeier had an opportunity to bring the Buffalo Wild Wings / Lunstra Motorsports No. 13 back to Huset's Speedway for a chance at his seventh speedway title during last weekend's Labor Day double header. Dobmeier started his three-race weekend at River Cities Speedway with an 18-point lead in the Wayne Anderson Cup standings. Dobmeier finished fourth in qualifying and charged from third to first in his heat race. Dobmeier then drew the 8 pill, placing him on the outside of the front row for the 30-lap main event. Dobmeier split Jack Croaker and Jade Hastings on the second attempt to start the race, passing the former to move up to sixth. Remaining in and around the top five through ten laps, Dobmeier passed Riley Goodno to move into the top five for good at the conclusion of the tenth circuit. Dobmeier moved past Jordan Graham two laps later to improve to fourth. Dobmeier remained fourth until the 21-lap green flag stint came to an end with 9 laps showing on the scoreboard. The ensuing restart saw Dobmeier enter into a three-car battle with Jad Hastings and Austin Pierce for second which he took just before the final caution with 6 to go. The battle between the trio lasted through the end of the race with Dobmeier finishing fourth. Dobmeier started his two-night season finale at Huset's with the seventh best qualifying lap and a second-place run in the heat race. Those results set up a starting spot on the inside of the third row in the first 25-lapper of the weekend. Moving past fellow championship contender Chase Randall on the initial start, Dobmeier immediately entered into a battle for third with Scott Bogucki. At the midway point while navigating through thick lapped traffic, Dobmeier, still well inside the top five, began to battle Mullen for fourth. While running fourth on the final lap, Dobmeier came to a stop at the top of turn two with front end damage. The crew made repairs, but a 14th place finish hurt his title hopes. Finishing seventh quick again on Sunday night but ending the heat race with a heat win, Dobmeier started on the outside of the third row in the final 25-lap feature at the speedway in 2023. Bouncing between fifth and seventh throughout the first half of the race, Dobmeier's hopes for the title improved after point leader Brooke Tatnell headed to the work area on a lap four caution. Restarting sixth following a caution with ten to go, Dobmeier got past Chase Randall and Kelby Watt to move up to fourth. Dobmeier pulled even with Dusty Zomer for third following the final caution with five to go but ended the race in fourth. Dobmeier finished third in the standings, just 19 points behind Tatnell who won his second consecutive track title. Dobmeier Racing thanks all of its sponsors for their continued support!
