GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 2, 2023) - For the fourth consecutive week, Mark Dobmeier completed his weekend with at least one feature victory in the Buffalo Wild Wings / Lunstra Motorsports No. 13. For the third week-in-a-row, Dobmeier came home with two main event wins which includes his sweep of last weekend's Governor's Cup at Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, ND with the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association. Dobmeier headed west with the rest of NOSA's series regulars to take on the three-eighths mile Dacotah Speedway. Dobmeier kicked off his weekend with a heat race win from the outside of the front row.
Dobmeier re-drew the pole for the main event, and jumped out to an early lead in the first 25 lap main event of the weekend. Dobmeier built an early lead, while also having to work lapped traffic just five laps into the race. Dobmeier continued to lead past the midway point of the race but in the closing laps Jack Croaker caught up to the tail of the black and gold 13 machine, taking the lead in turn one with five to go. The pass was negated by the only caution of the race that came out in the following set of corners. Dobmeier went unchallenged in the final handful of circuits to win his seventh NOSA feature of the season. Saturday night for Dobmeier and crew began with another heat win from the outside of the front row, but a redraw of five put him on the inside of the third row for the Governor's Cup finale. Dobmeier ran fourth through the opening eight laps of the race but stormed from fourth to first on the first lap following the lap nine caution. Dobmeier built a healthy advantage through the halfway mark, and was only slowed down by one final caution, for the second night in-a-row with five laps remaining. Dobmeier held off a hard charging Jade Hastings in the closing laps to score his eighth NOSA win of the season, and 182nd of his career. Dobmeier also became the first driver in six appearances for NOSA at the Governor's Cup to sweep the weekend. The team made the long trip back to Brandon, SD on Sunday to keep their points lead at Huset's Speedway. Setting the tenth quickest qualifying lap and finishing second in his heat race set up a starting spot on the outside of the fifth row for the final 25 lap feature of Dobmeier's weekend. As became tradition on the weekend, another green flag run was in the cards, as Dobmeier remained solidly inside the top ten as the race went 17 laps without a caution. Dobmeier remained in eighth through the final caution with four laps remaining, coming home with a seventh-place finish. When Dobmeier heads back to Huset's for the next points race at the speedway, he'll be just three markers back of defending track champion Brooke Tatnell for the point lead. Dobmeier is now also just 16 points behind Jade Hastings in the NOSA standings as the series heads back to Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon, MN on Sunday night where Dobmeier will enter the night as the defending winner of the August visit to the quarter-mile oval.
