Grand Forks, N.D. (June 26, 2024) - Mark Dobmeier started his week last Wednesday night intending to run four straight nights at Huset's Speedway as the High Bank Hustle and High Bank Nationals were underway. With the facility flooded by the nearby Split Rock Creek Friday morning, Dobmeier and crew made the five-hour trip back home to Grand Forks and went on to sweep the double header with the NOSA Sprints during the Grand Forks Fair. Once again, the field had to run in the track as rain continued to plague feature races at River Cities but when the field lined-up for the first 25-lapper of the weekend, it was Dobmeier that led them to the chalk line in turn four from the pole.
Dobmeier jumped out to the early lead and started setting a torrid pace out front. Dobmeier was already in lapped traffic in just two trips around the quarter-mile but continued to lead as he put a number of cars a lap down. Despite cautions on laps eight, nine, and twelve, Dobmeier continued to hold off Gage Pulkrabek for the lead as he lapped through the field on every restart. Two more slowdowns with seven and then five to go produced the same results as Dobmeier went on to lead after every restart, led every lap, and won his second race of the year at River Cities. Dobmeier rolled off eighth at the start of Saturday's main event but was already in the top five at the conclusion of the opening lap. Dobmeier went from fifth to third on lap eight and was closing in on leaders Wade Nygaard and Gage Pulkrabek when Nygaard spun in turn three on lap nine. Dobmeier slid in front of Pulkrabek at the midway point to take the lead and picked up where he left off one night prior. Just like Friday, Dobmeier was the best restarter as he had little to no problem with the final three restarts to go on and sweep the weekend. I'll tell you what, the track crew did a great job,” Dobmeier said in victory lane. “They tilled it up. And got us a racetrack that really was technical. I kind of changed a lot. It started pretty heavy, and everyone was on the bottom and then it kind of switched. The two lanes were fast and then it kind of slicked off around the top, but there's still some [traction] on the bottom of three and four. So, a great job of the track crew again tonight. Just worked the traffic wherever I could and picked the lanes where I could and used up every gap I could make.” This week Dobmeier and the NOSA regulars take on the newly formed MSTS 410 series at a pair of South Dakota tracks. Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen is first up on Friday night then the scene shifts to Casino Speedway in Watertown on Sunday evening.
