By Spieker Promotions GRAND FORKS, N.D. (November 26, 2019) – Mark Dobmeier and Team 13 Racing will officially wrap up their 2019 season this weekend at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz. For the second consecutive year, Dobmeier will be competing in the ASCS Southwest Region Copper Classic at the three-eighths mile oval in his Buffalo Wild Wings No. 13. “I guess it’s cold in North Dakota and we need something to do,” Dobmeier said with a laugh. “It’s kind of a nice time to go racing. We finished up the season a while ago and after a long season, you’ve had enough of it. But after a week or two your itching and ready to go again. Things have been slow here for about the last month, so it’ll be nice to get out to warm weather and enjoy some fun racing with some friends.” In last year’s edition of the Copper Classic, Dobmeier ran fourth in the feature on the opening night of action and finished 12th in the Saturday night main event. He also competed at Arizona Speedway back in April with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. “I’m really looking forward to this weekend, to be honest. It can be a very fun race track. It generally forms a pretty big, heavy cushion and runs right up against the wall,” he said. “It reminds me of the old Huset’s Speedway days. It’s got pretty long straightaways so you can get some good speed, too.” Dobmeier was last in action on November 9th at Central Arizona Speedway in Casa Grande, Ariz. with the ASCS Southwest Region. “We went out there and started front row outside of the heat. It was a fun, little race track,” he said of his first impressions of Central Ariz. Speedway. “They had enough moisture in it to where it got to be a pretty racy track and the track conditions stayed good all night long. We went out and won the heat race. I drew the biggest number I could for the redraw so I started fourth. I got up to second and John Carney was leading and running a good pace. I could stay with him, but I couldn’t reel him in much to be a threat for a pass unless he screwed up around a lap car. He and I had pretty similar speed.”
Coming into this weekend’s action with a race under his belt down in the desert, Dobmeier is confident Team 13 Racing can run up front. “The soil is a bit different down there than what we’re used to. Every time we hit the track we are learning,” he continued. “It was nice to get to race a couple of weeks ago to keep our wheels turning. We’ll roll on in with our momentum we gained from that one and hopefully, come out with a good outcome.” Mark and the entire Team 13 Racing crew would like to thank all their sponsors for their support!
