By Spieker Promotions GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 30, 2019) – Mark Dobmeier and the Buffalo Wild Wings No. 13 team had just one event on the schedule last weekend. The team unloaded Friday night at River Cities Speedway for the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Car event. Dobmeier started the night by timing in second quick and driving from sixth to win heat race number two. From there, Dobmeier lined up seventh for the 25-lap main event.
“We got a good jump on the initial start, but it got called back. On the second start, I think we had a bleeder issue and the car was screaming tight,” said Dobmeier. “I hooked a rut at one point and fell back to 12th. I couldn’t get anything going so I just started blazing the tires in the middle of the track to get some air pressure going again. I finally got going a few laps in, then we had another restart.” The turning point in the race for Dobmeier was the restart on lap eight when he went from ninth to second in one lap. After another restart, Dobmeier took the lead and checked out from the rest of the field. “We got towards the end of the race and got caught up in lapped traffic. The traffic was fast on top and I couldn’t find a good way around them, then out of the blue Bobby Martin found the bottom groove and he cleaned my clock right at the end of it” he said. “I saw the bottom groove was there, but I figured the momentum around the top was definitely the best way, and I think it was. I just got slowed up by lapped cars. He must have been hitting his marks every lap and all it took was a hiccup on my part for him to get by. “To be honest, it was great to see,” said Dobmeier. “Bobby is a good, solid, and strong racer and I was kind of secretly cheering for him in my helmet. Of course, I was giving him everything I had and trying to pass him on the last lap. I had a good run on him coming to the checkered flag, but came up short. It was good to see that team get a win.” This weekend, Dobmeier will head back to River Cities on Friday night before heading to Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, Minn. on Sunday. Dobmeier is the defending race winner at BRRP after picking up his first career win at the speedway last year with the NOSA Sprints. “It’ll be an action-packed race to say the least. The track is so tight, if you get a hole, you’ve got to take it because you don’t get very many opportunities to pass there. You’ve just got to use every inch of that track whenever you can. A lot of it depends on the track surface – whether it’s slick or tacky,” said Dobmeier of the tricky quarter-mile oval. The races start at 7pm on Friday at River Cities and at 6pm on Sunday at Buffalo River. Mark and the entire Team 13 Racing crew would like to thank all their sponsors for their support!
