By Mike Spieker GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 10, 2021) – Mark Dobmeier picked up his fifth checkered flag of the year on Sunday night at Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon, Minn. with the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints.
Dobmeier started third on the grid, took the lead on lap five and never looked back. The driver of the Buffalo Wild Wings No. 13 led the final 20 circuits around the tight and tricky quarter-mile to claim the win over Brendan Mullen. “Mullen was setting a good pace early on. I just stayed with him and was able to use lapped cars to get around him,” said Dobmeier of his pass for the lead. “It really got interesting there the last five laps. Something let go in the motor so I was down a cylinder or two and the throttle was sticking so I was just doing all I could just to hang on until the end of the race.” Dobmeier was able to hang on to pick up the win; his 169th with the NOSA Sprints. Dobmeier was also in contention for another win on Friday night at River Cities Speedway for round three of the Wayne Anderson Cup. Dobmeier was looking to remain unbeaten in the four-race mini-series that honors the founder of the NOSA Sprints. Dobmeier held the lead with under 10 laps to go until a mechanical failure plagued the No. 13 on lap 22 of 30. Dobmeier slowed to a stop on the high side of the speedway, ending his night early and giving him a disappointing 19th place finish. This week, Team 13 heads south to Knoxville for the 60th running of the Knoxville Nationals. Dobmeier is set to qualify on Wednesday night. Wednesday will be Dobmeier’s first laps at the Marion County Fairgrounds half-mile oval since June of 2020 when he competed with the World of Outlaws during the Brownell’s Big Guns Bash. All the action this week from Knoxville will be available on DIRTVision.com. Dobmeier Racing thanks all of its sponsors for their continued support!
