Josh Holt | Driver Websites.com | 08/17/2011 | - After not being able to make the prestigious Knoxville Nationals Main Event in his entire career, Mark Dobmeier comes out this year with a bang, standing on top of the podium at the end of the night of Thursday’s qualifying race for the 51st Annual Knoxville Nationals.

Going into the Knoxville Nationals of 2011, Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports elected to qualify on Thursday rather than their traditional Wednesday night of qualifying for the Nationals. “We just wanted to mix things up a bit,” says Mark. “We haven’t been able to do better than mid-field of the B-Main, so we thought the track might be more to our advantage on Thursday and I guess it worked out fairly well!”

Dobmeier drew the #34 pill which denoted where his pit stall was and the order of qualifying for the evening. Mark took the track with his Senske and Son Big Trucks by Jimco #13 and set an 11th quick time which gave him a starting spot of 6th in the first heat race.

Dobmeier was up to fifth behind the Knoxville great of Danny Lasoski and with 2 laps to go, a red flag bunched up the field to give “Dynamite” Dobmeier one last chance to make it past the 33 of Lasoski and guarantee him a starting spot in the ever-so-important Main Event. At the drop of the green flag, Dobmeier expected Lasoski to take the bottom, but instead the 33 took the middle which allowed Mark to make an awesome pass on the bottom of turns 1 and 2, securing him into that transfer spot.

“I was so happy after making the main, I about jumped out of my car,” exclaims Dobmeier. “I have raced this deal enough to understand how critical the points are throughout the week, and then qualifying 11th along with transferring to the main event, I knew this was the turning point! I just can’t thank the guys enough for providing me with the car I had!”

Dobmeier lined up on the second row for Thursday’s Qualifying Main Event. At the beginning of the race, Terry McCarl (55) and Stevie Smith (1Z) got together causing a yellow flag and setting Mark in second behind World of Outlaw Champion Jason Meyers (14).
Dobmeier nearly passed Meyers going through the 1st two turns on the ½ mile following the restart, but didn’t make the pass so Mark got up top and tried to race Meyers down.

“Our Fisher Motor was unbelievable, and our car worked just amazing,” mentions Mark. “Here at Knoxville you have to worry about dirty air, but our car sitting behind Meyers was working great! I was running about the same line as he was and gaining on him, and I knew we would have a shot at passing the Champion. I was a little mad at myself after that caution for not making the pass then, but I knew we were fast. I was just ‘licking my chops’ waiting for the right time.”

The right time came as Dobmeier took the lead with a Knoxville “Slider” through turns 3 and 4, and with a couple attempts of Meyers doing the same and Dobmeier shutting the doors, Mark Dobmeier went in the books as the 51st Annual Knoxville Nationals Thursday Qualifier victor.

“This is awesome!” exclaims Dobmeier. “When I crossed the checkered in the lead, I didn’t really know what to think, except for the fact that we won. But, when I got out of the car and stood on that podium and all of those fans were cheering, yelling, and clapping….It was something that I just can’t explain. We have had a great run at Knoxville this year, and our motor program is the best it has ever been and with Dave Lunstra on our side along with Davey Whitworth, our team couldn’t possibly be any better. The guys gave me a great car. This is pretty darn sweet!”

Dobmeier then lined up 7th in the 51st Annual Knoxville Nationals. Mark fell back to 9th at the time of the “pit stop” and the team decided to give it new tires, fuel, and a different set of gears to give the Senske & Son Right Choice Electric #13 just a bit more speed.

The changes were successful as Mark charged up to fifth until a last lap slider was put on by Daryn Pittman (27) which set the Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports car back to sixth to finish out the week.

“This entire week has been awesome,” explains the Grand Forks, ND, native, “It hasn’t set in yet that we won the qualifying night, but I am sure it’s coming! I have to give an extra special thanks to my crew, my sponsors, and most importantly all the fans that give their continued support! Thanks again to the Dammer camp, Senske & Son Transfer, Rose Creek Tavern, and Willow Ridge guys who came down from Grand Forks!”

Following the Nationals, Dobmeier headed to Huset’s Speedway for another contest against the All Star boys. Dobmeier qualified 7th quick, started fourth in the heat and raced up to third, and then ran third in the dash to set the Senske & Son Right Choice Electric #13 on the inside of the second row for the 30 lap All Star Main Event.

“I took it pretty cautiously the first 10 laps or so, because of the mistake I made last time I raced with the All Stars a couple weeks ago,” adds Mark. “But once (David) Gravel got by my I figured I better elbow up!”

Dobmeier charged to the lead and took the checkers capping off a very successful week for Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports.
Up Next will be an All Star race in Fargo this Thursday, followed by a World of Outlaw Event in Grand Forks on Friday and Saturday at Huset’s Speedway.

“I am really looking forward to these next few races,” exclaims Dobmeier going into two Outlaw shows at his home tracks, “Our confidence level is the highest it has ever been, and we’ve ran strong against these guys many times... I would love to bring the Right Choice Electric Dammer Trucking Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports #13 to victory lane!”

KNOXVILLE RACEWAY, Knoxville, IA, August 11, 2011 – Mark Dobmeier won a battle with Jason Meyers to take night #2 of the 51st Annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals on Thursday night. The Grand Forks, North Dakota driver piloted the Lunstra/Dobmeier #13 machine by Meyers on lap 14 and never looked back for his eighth career win at the famous half-mile.

Misfortune hit the pole-sitter for the main event, when Wayne Johnson had something break in his front end, sending him into the turn one wall before the green could be thrown. He was uninjured, but done.

Terry McCarl assumed the pole and led lap one, but Meyers took control on the next go-around. On lap three, McCarl and Stevie Smith made contact on the frontstretch sending McCarl spinning to the infield and leaving Smith with a torn up nose wing. Both would restart after brief repairs in the work area.

Meyers led Dobmeier, Brian Brown, Dale Blaney and Justin Henderson back to green flag racing. Both Dobmeier and Brown kept pace with the leader until a lap seven caution for Smith, who stopped with more nose wing problems in turn four.

The lead trio remained the same on the restart, with Henderson having overtaken Blaney for fourth. Lance Dewease and Craig Dollansky had moved into the top ten from deep in the pack. Dobmeier seemed to have the momentum to shoot by Meyers going down the backstretch on the restart, but checked up behind him and remained in pursuit, while Blaney and Dewease moved by Henderson into fourth and fifth.

On lap fourteen, Dobmeier squeezed by Meyers at the flagstand, and shortly thereafter, Billy Balog came to a stop in turn four. The final restart of the event saw Dobmeier leading Meyers, Brown, Blaney and Dewease with eleven laps to go. Dollansky shot by two cars on the restart to move into fifth, and two laps later, took fourth from Blaney. It would be for not in the end, as he retreated to seventeenth with an oil leak.

Dobmeier increased his lead in the final stages to win the cheers of the local faithful. Meyers maintained second ahead of Brown. Dewease and hard-charger, Jason Johnson completed the top five. Blaney, Brooke Tatnell, Kraig Kinser, Daryn Pittman and Henderson rounded out the top ten.

“We’ve probably got one of the hardest working teams out here,” said Dobmeier in Victory Lane. “We’re just a group of guys who likes to have fun on the weekend, and that’s what we’re doing. I really should have got (Meyers) on the first restart there, but I hesitated. I had to relax there for a while and look for my spot and we took it.”

Meyers thought his car worked well under green flag conditions, but was frustrated with the cautions periods. “I keep getting on wrong end of those yellow flags. Mark must have been good out there. After the week we had and me getting sick, the guys put a great racecar under me. These heats are really tough, and they gave me a great car.”

“I want to congratulate Mark Dobmeier,” said Brown. “That’s a heck of a run for us local guys. Jason’s a heck of a racer. I wasn’t that good at the end. I was cruising and decided to take third rather than stick it in the fence.”

Cody Darrah set quick time over the 54-car field with a lap of 15.153 seconds. Dewease, Jason . Solwold, Kraig Kinser, Ricky Logan and Billy Alley won heat races. Cap Henry took the C main and Paul McMahan won the B main.

Dale Blaney was the top point getter on the night with 479, followed closely by Meyers. Both will start in row two of the championship event Saturday night behind pole-sitter Sammy Swindell and Brad Sweet.

Tomorrow night will be the Friday program for qualifiers outside of the top 50. In addition, the Premier Chevy Dealers World Challenge will be run, along with the First Annual Race of Champions. Josh Holt | DriverWebsites.com | 07/13/2011 | - Traditionally, the Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports team starts their race weekend at their home track of River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Changing paths just a bit, the team elected to race with the Outlaws once again at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin, this past Friday.

Going into the event, the team was very confident after their strong run with the Best of the Best, just a couple weeks ago in Princeton, Minnesota. “Our team has been strong against these guys and Cedar Lake (Speedway) is an awesome racetrack,” adds the driver of the Senske and Son Right Choice Electric #13. “I wasn’t feeling well at all, but I figured we’d better take the opportunity.”

In the later part of last week, Mark came down with a bad sinus infection that certainly put Mark behind the eight ball.

Mark Dobmeier started the night out by qualifying 17th with an 11.487 and then finished 6th from the third row in the second heat race. Lining up on the outside of the eighth row at 16th for the start of the 35 lap World of Outlaw Main Event, “Dynamite” Dobmeier charged up to 10th ahead of four Outlaw regulars to cap off the night.

“It was a little bit of a struggle,” says Mark, “but we had a great run to make it up to the top ten. We love racing with these guys and I know we have it in us to win one of these deals.”
Following Cedar Lake was “HCI Wells Fargo 410 Twin Features” night at the legendary ½ mile of Knoxville Raceway on Saturday. Dobmeier set an 11th quick time late in the lineup and then finished where he started at 3rd in the second heat race.

Mark lined up on the inside of the fifth row next to the 7K of Robby Wolfgang for the start of the first of two main events and charged forward up inside the top five to fourth.

For the second of the twin features, Mark started 14th and raced up eighth to cap off the night.

By the time Mark was finished with the second main, he was dog-tired and really struggling trying to make it through the rest of the race due to not feeling up to par. “It was definitely tough!” exclaims Mark. “By this time I basically wanted the weekend to be done with, but we had the big 5 grand to win at Huset’s Speedway the next night, so I tried to get some sleep and prepare myself for that race.”

Mark was in his worst shape of the weekend going into the anticipated $5,000 to win weekly night at Huset’s Speedway, but he “bucked” down and set a fourth quick time just 3 hundredths of QT driver Lynton Jeffrey.

Shane Stewart (57) got the lead from Donovan Peterson (3) at the start of the second heat in which Dobmeier started fifth and finished fifth in the Senske and Son Right Choice Electric #13.
Huset’s Speedway prepared an awesome racetrack for the big $5,000 to win Main Event; it was a track that had lines on the bottom and the top and it made for an awesome display of talented drivers throughout the 25 laps.

“I was very happy with the surface,” says Mark, “I just was barely making it under my helmet throughout the race. I was sick. I’ve never been that sick before! We still managed a fifth by the time the checkered flag flew, so all in all I can’t complain too much.”

Mark, at the age of thirty, finally went to the doctor for the first time that he can remember this past Monday, (other than broken bones, ect.) and received some meds and is starting to feel much better. Expect to see “Dynamite” Dobmeier at the front this coming weekend as the Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports team will begin their traditional three-day weekend this Friday starting with River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND, followed by Knoxville Raceway on Saturday, and then Huset’s Speedway on Sunday.

Josh Holt | DriverWebsites.com | 06/28/2011 - The team elected to miss their regularly scheduled event at River Cities Speedway and travel to Jackson Speedway to race the $12,000 to win 410 event this past Friday. Coming off a win from Huset’s Speedway, the team had big expectations going into this race. Jackson did things a little differently with the Qualifying as they had 2 heat races.

Each heat was inverted at the start, and each row of the heat were from a different race. This made it interesting as they used passing points and finishing points to determine the starting position for the dash. The top ten in points from the two separate heat races were put in the dash in which a pill was drawn by a driver and that driver could elect where another driver would start. Driver Logan Forler drew the number 4 and elected “Dynamite” Dobmeier to start in that spot. Dobmeier ran third in the dash to line up the Senske & Son Right Choice Electric #13 on the inside of the second row for the main event.

“The track was a little locked down in the heat races, but we were able to come from the back to third in one of them and we finished second in the other,” says Mark. It opened up a lot in the feature, and the crew had the car working great, but we fell back to 6th at the time of the checkered flag. It was a solid night, but it just wasn’t a great night for us.”

Following Jackson, it was off to Princeton Speedway in Princeton, Minnesota, to compete once again with the World of Outlaws.
“Racing with the Outlaws is always fun for us,” explains Dobmeier who has won a World of Outlaw event in Wilmot, Wisconsin, late in 2006. “It gives us a chance to see what our team is made of and a lot of the times it shows how good we can do. We like to take any opportunity we can, racing with these guys.”

Mark qualified 4th quick with a time of 11.083, just a little over a tenth off from Quick Time holder, Jason Sides.
Starting third and finishing third in the heat race put Dobmeier on the pole of the dash right next to the number 15 of Donny Schatz. Dobmeier quickly set the pace, getting the jump on the Outlaw Champion, and finished ahead of the Outlaw boys with nearly a straightaway lead.

That run placed the Dammer Trucking #13 on the pole for the 40 lap contest with the World of Outlaws, and once the green flag dropped, “Dynamite” was off and had the lead for the first 27 laps of the event until a caution flag flew, bunching up the field.

“We don’t race enough with the Outlaws to be used to the double-file restarts,” explains Mark. “I knew we would have trouble coming off the restart, but we did our best off the line and Schatz was able to get the line early to take the lead from us on lap 28. I am a fan of the double-file restarts, but it is certainly something we need to work on.”

Throughout the remaining 12 laps, there was another caution in which Steve Kinser was able to squeeze by and on the last lap, Dobmeier caught the cushion with his RR tire which allowed Jason Meyers get by setting Dobmeier at 5th at the end.

“It was an awesome night,” says Mark. “You always look back on the race once it’s over, and if we wouldn’t have gotten that caution, I think we’d be standing in victory lane! But, I know that our team is capable of winning a World of Outlaw show, so we are just going to keep doing what we are doing, making improvements where we need to and it will come.”

Sunday’s World of Outlaw event at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota, was cancelled due to rain.

Next up for Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports will be their traditional three-day weekend of River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND, followed by Knoxville Raceway on Saturday, and then Huset’s Speedway on Sunday.

Josh Holt | DriverWebsites.com | 06/21/2011 – Racing with the World of Outlaws is something that Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports looks forward to, especially when it’s at their home track of River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND. This past weekend was the two-day show at River Cities with the best of the best sprint car drivers in the country, but it didn’t turn out exactly how the dominant River Cities Speedway team had expected.

It started on Friday night where Dobmeier won the heat race, moved up a spot in the dash from the back to line up the Senske & Son Right Choice Electric #13 on the inside of the fifth row for the start of the main event. With only 5 laps into the contest, Dobmeier had a tire blow. Re-starting at the tail end of the field, “Dynamite” was able to charge back up to 15th by the time the checkers flew.

“We just had some tough luck with that tire blowing,” explains Mark. “I was real happy how things were going until then, but once we had to go to the back, I knew we were going to have our work cut out for us. But, all in all, coming back up to 15th made it for an all right night.”

Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports elected to stay at their home track of River Cities since the Outlaws were in town instead of racing their traditional Saturday night of Knoxville Raceway. “Missing Saturday’s Knoxville race certainly took us out of contention for the championship, but we just had to race here tonight,” Mark adds.

With a top ten qualifying effort of ninth, Dobmeier started on the outside pole of the heat race. Dobmeier didn’t get the greatest of start, but with an amazing race to the finish, and three cars including the #15 of Donny Schatz all coming to the line within feet of each other, Mark finished fourth.

Dobmeier lined up 13th with the Dammer Trucking #13 and raced up to eleventh to cap off the weekend at River Cities with the Outlaws.

“All in all it wasn’t a bad weekend,” says Mark. “You always wish it would have gone better, but we were strong and we certainly look forward to next weekend racing with the Outlaws.”
Following the River Cites Speedway double-header, Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports traveled down to Huset’s Speedway in which he was able to make the weekend right by qualifying 2nd quick, finishing fourth in the heat race, and then coming from 7th to grab the team’s 4th win of 2011.

Coming up this weekend, be prepared to watch “Dynamite” Dobmeier and the rest of the Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports crew tomorrow night in Jackson Speedway for the huge $12,000 to win 410 show, followed by Princeton Speedway’s Saturday night World of Outlaw event and Sunday’s very anticipated World of Outlaw contest at the “Home of the Professionals,” Huset’s Speedway.

Josh Holt | DriverWebsites.com | 06/15/2011 - At the start of the day, last Friday the 10th of June, Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports loaded up the truck and started the long drive to Knoxville Raceway to race the World of Outlaw double header event. Things were going as planned until a phone call explained the cancellation of the first night due to rain. This happened just south of Sioux City, Iowa. The team turned around and began the trek back to the team’s home track of River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND.

The Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports truck and trailer rolled into the speedway about 5 minutes before Mark’s scheduled heat race and with a very special thanks to Senske & Son, Right Choice Electric, and Big Trucks by Jimco as they got the Grand Forks car ready to rock, Dobmeier hopped in the #13 right out of the truck and came from last to win the heat race.

“It was intense,” explains “Dynamite” Dobmeier, “We knew we were going to be cutting it close on the time frame, but our great sponsors had the car ready for us and I just strapped in as the cars were rolling onto the track. Then to come from the back to win, just shows how good our team is in preparation. It was awesome and I can’t thank Senske & Son, Right Choice Electric, and Big Trucks by Jimco enough!”

To cap off the rear to win charge in the heat race, Dobmeier started on the outside of row number 3 in the feature and made short work of the top five, as he had the lead with only five laps into the main event. He stayed up front throughout the race and capped off his second win of the season on the short track of River Cities.
Saturday morning the team loaded up and headed back down to Knoxville to contest with the World of Outlaws. Qualifying 29th and finishing seventh in the heat race, made for a long night for the Grand Forks based team.

Dobmeier was able to tackle the B-Main starting ninth and then passing the “King,” Steve Kinser for the transfer position of fourth until a caution flag flew dropping that position for Dobmeier. The King made a bold move on the restart to take the transfer and placing the Right Choice Electric #13 back to fifth.

Luckily, as one of the World of Outlaw competitors had to take a provisional to start the main event, the track gets a provisional to hand out. Since Dobmeier was one spot shy of the B-Main transfer, Knoxville gave him the provisional which allowed Mark to start at the tail end of the A at 26th. Mark made some fast charges towards the front to put him at 14th by the time the checkered flag flew.

Following the Knoxville Outlaw show, it was off to Huset’s Speedway and a series of disasters.
After qualifying second to Gregg Bakker (11x) with a 10.981 lap time, Dobmeier lined up 6th for the start of the heat race. At the start of the race, Dobmeier and a fellow competitor got together sending Mark flipping down the straight. The team hurried and took everything back outside to the race hauler for the attempt to make it back for the start of the main event. “It was one of those deals,” says Mark. “We have all been in those situations, and it is never fun. We obviously didn’t plan on wreaking on the start of our heat race, but our team is good under pressure, so I knew we would have a chance to make it back to the main.

Amazing efforts by the Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports team allowed the Senske & Sons #13 to start at the tail of the main event at 20th. With an amazing charge to the front of the field from the back set Dobmeier in the number 2 spot right behind the leader, Austin McCarl (#17), with only one lap to go. As the two were coming out of turn four to take the checkered, Austin spun leaving no holes for the Big Trucks by Jimco #13 and sent Dobmeier flipping once again. The tangle between Austin and Mark allowed for Terry McCarl to take the win from both his son Austin and the hard charger of Dobmeier.

“What a crazy night and weekend,” exclaims Mark. “After traveling all these extra miles over the weekend to race back home after Knoxville was cancelled, and then taking the win from the back in the heat and then winning the feature, then charging in the WoO (World of Outlaw) main, then crashing two cars tonight and coming from the back to the front in the main… Wow!. It just proves that we have put together a solid team and we are ready for just about anything. Tonight (Huset’s) obviously wasn’t a good night as far as results, but it showed that we were fast, prepared and ready to battle. I am really looking forward to this coming weekend of the Outlaw show in Grand Forks, we should have a great weekend.”

Josh Holt | DriverWebsites.com | 05/31/2011 - It has been a rainy start to the 2011 season for Mark Dobmeier in the Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports Senske & Son #13, but with the amount of rain cancellations and postponements that has happened so far, the team has been off to a great start to the season.

Finishing in the top three five times out of the seven races thus far, simply shows that Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports is off to a great start. “We have our program right,” explains Grand Forks native Mark Dobmeier. “We have worked very hard throughout the off season to be right from the start for this season and all that hard work has paid off. We will run our regular season schedule with Grand Forks on Friday, Knoxville Raceway on Saturday and then Huset’s on Sunday, and then we’ll be sure to hit any World of Outlaw or All Star events that are within a few hundred miles. We want that Knoxville Championship really bad, and I am confident that we have the best chance this year than ever. (Danny) Lasoski has an awesome start to that, but we have to keep charging forward and stay away from any mechanical errors to get this done. We are all looking forward to this season.”

This past week started with a River City rainout, so the team traveled to Knoxville to race on the legendary ½ mile. The night started with a 6th quick qualifying effort which lined the Senske & Son Right Choice Electric #13 on the inside of the third row for the start of the heat race. Dobmeier moved up one spot to finish fourth and to start on the inside of row number 2 for the main event.

Mark got ahead of Dustin Selvage (#7) and began his charge on leader Danny Lasoski in the 33 car. “I showed my nose a few times, but we just didn’t have anything for the Dude (Danny Lasoski). When he starts up front here at Knoxville, he’s certainly tough to beat.” The track was a little rough for the competitors due to all the weather the speedway has seen, but the track workers did a great job working with the hand that was dealt. Dobmeier capped off the night with a second place finish to the 33 car of Danny Lasoski.

Following Knoxville, it was off to the expected two-day NOSA Memorial Weekend event at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota. Mark started fifth in the heat race and raced up two spots to finish 3rd, just one spot shy of the top two needed to make the invert. Starting back in 11th in the main made for an exciting display for the fans as Dobmeier charged through the field and up to second behind ASCS regular, Shane Stewart. Dobmeier adds, “There was a caution that bunched us up right after I got behind (Shane) Stewart, and I thought we had a chance in the last 100 feet, but then the caution flag flew again. With Stewart out in the open, he was hard to pass so we had to settle for second.”

About half way through the race once the cars got a little spread out and the Senske & Son Right Choice Electric #13 made its way into clean air, the speed that Dobmeier has really showed. “I am pretty sure we were gaining about 2 car lengths a lap there towards the end,” explains Mark, “But we just ran out of laps. The track here is 180 degrees from what it was last year. I really look forward to coming here to race now that the track is in awesome condition! It’s fun racing here and putting on the show for the fans.”
Monday nights event was cancelled due to severe weather, but be sure to watch for Dobmeier this Friday at River Cities Speedway followed by Knoxville on Saturday and then Huset’s once again this coming Sunday.

It has been a long season for Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports, traveling over 1300 miles every weekend to race at the three tracks of River Cities Speedway, Knoxville Raceway, and Huset’s Speedway, and with 52 races logged for 2010 it was time to finish up the season with two World of Outlaw events and the Huset’s Speedway finale.

This past Friday was Spencer, Iowa’s World of Outlaw event in which Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports has been preparing for ever since their 18th place finish at the 3/8 mile oval last year in 2009. Mark started out the night well, having the fastest time amongst the 34 competitors in hot laps and then nailing down a 10th quick qualifying effort in the Senske & Son Right Choice Electric #13 with a time of 14.235.

Lining up on the outside pole of the heat race next to the 4x of Toni Lutar, Dobmeier grabbed the lead and led the remainder of 8 laps to take the win. Mark started on the outside pole once again for the start of the dash and was in a very exciting and heated battle with Sammy Swindell, when Mark jumped the cushion and went off the track, flipping the #13.

The crew worked vigorously putting the car back together throughout the 20 minutes before the start of the main and succeeded. “Dynamite” Dobmeier raced from 10th to 6th throughout the 30 lap main event, nearly retrieving the teams second top five finish with the World of Outlaws in the 2010 season.

“I was pretty disappointed in myself from the dash,” explains Mark. “We had a great run going for the night and we certainly had a car that could finish in the top three. I have to hand it to my guys…They worked their butts off getting the car together after the dash, and it was a phenomenal race car throughout the main.”

Following the near top five finish at Clay County Speedway in Spencer, Iowa, it was off to Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota, for yet another attempt with the World of Outlaws. Dobmeier qualified 10th quick once again with a time of 11.651, which set the Senske & Son Right Choice Electric #13 on the pole for the heat race. Throughout the 8 lap heat, Dobmeier battled with the 63 of Chad Kemenah, but Kemenah came out on top with Dobmeier settling for second.

Mark started on the inside of the last row for the dash, and with a few motor issues the Senske & Son Right Choice Electric dropped to 10th by the time the checkered flag flew. Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports made an engine change before they lined up 10th for the main event. About half way through the 35 lap main event, Dobmeier spun causing a caution and had to come back through the field to 13th to finish out the evening.

“We are pretty happy about tonight,” mentions Dobmeier. “Again the car was working great…we were preparing for this weekend all year and it paid off. We changed motors before the main, but other than that everything went well. We had a decent car in the main and after our spin to finish 13th, we can’t complain too much…”

Sunday was an event Mark and the crew has been looking forward to all season. The season finale and the Baete-Forseth Back Row Challenge additional $5000 to win at “The Home of the Professionals” of Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota. Since the team has taken the challenge throughout the season, they were eligible for the $5000 bonus to make the night a possibility of a $7500 pay day.

Qualifying third quick and coming from fourth to win the heat race, Dobmeier lined up to start on the inside of the third row for the start of the main event. “Going into the main, we knew it was going to be a struggle,” says Mark after blowing a tire after running second to Chuck McGillivray and then racing back up to 8th. “This racetrack was not the way it should be for a season ending $7500 to win event. This track started out sub-par at the beginning of the season, then they worked it out to make the impressive speedway that it’s been in years past, but tonight it was back to where they started at the beginning of the season… It was very unfortunate for everyone including the fans to have a one-lane rubber down surface to race on. Setting all things aside, I do want to congratulate Chuck (McGillivray) for winning the show. He is one of those guys that works harder than most to race and absolutely loves the sport of sprint car racing. Seeing him win, that being his second of the season, was just flat out awesome! Congratulations Chuck, you deserved that!”

Overall the season has been a success for Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports, the team entered in 55 events, won 13, finished in the top five 33 times and placed inside the top ten 44 times. The season for Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports has come to a close for 2010, but Mark will be traveling out to California again this October, so be sure to stay tuned to www.markdobmeier.com for details.
