KENDRICK 92.9 TEAM

BACK & READY TO BURN UP THE RACE TRACK

Media Release

KENDRICK Racing has touched back down in Western Australia after a hectic racing schedule on the east coast.

In total American import Mark Dobmeier contested 18 races for the Osborne Park team in the busy schedule that started with a round of the Wanless World Series in Adelaide on Boxing Day and ended with the Warrnambool Classic last Sunday night.

In that time they qualified for every A Main which was a pretty impressive effort. We had three DNFs, one was from power steering, another from a track rod and the other when we were flipped out by someone else, team Principal Geoff Kendrick said. On the positive side our worst finish apart from this was 12th and the rest of the time we were in the top half a dozen, including a podium results.
Mark has not been to Australia before and he was very good on tracks he knew nothing about.

In fact Kendrick was so impressed with the likeable American that he is considering running him in a similar Australian schedule next year. Dobmeier started the season at the Perth Motorplex and contested the WA rounds of the AHG series before heading east on Boxing Day.

He has now returned to America to run his auto repair business but the two-car Kendrick team will still be seen in action on WAs tracks for the rest of the season.

Another American in Chad Blonde has been drafted to the stable and landed in Perth on Thursday morning. He will have his first look at the WA speedway scene with a   practice session at the Perth Motorplex next Wednesday night before contesting the show at the Kwinana Beach venue on February 9. Chad is regarded as one of the up-and-coming stars on the American scene and last year he won five All-stars shows in a row and was impressive in a few Outlaws shows as well.

We still have plenty of racing to do in WA and I think we should be good enough to win some more feature races between now and the end of the season.

Kendricks son Jason, who is in his rookie season, will be back behind the wheel of his black #11 from next week after going on the road and crewing for Dobmeier.

I wanted him to crew on the east coast trip so he could get more experience in working on the cars and he is itching to drive again at practice next week.

You can see Kendrick Racings two cars in action at the following shows: February 9 (Perth Motorplex), February 16 Bunbury, February 22-23 (Perth Motorplex), March 1-2 (Bunbury), March 7-8 (Perth Motorplex), March 15 (Northam), March 22 (Kwinana), April 12 (Kwinana) and April 19 (Bunbury).

(According to sprintcarworld.com.au)

There are 348 registered Australian Drivers (Not counting visiting American Drivers)

There are 5 separate series, the most traveled would be the Wanless Series.

There are Speedways in each Australian Territory, 15 of which have web sites.

In the Month of January, cars from all over Australia gather in the Queensland and New South Whales areas for the big money races.

When Mark and Ethan get back, we'll see if they have anything to add to this.  In the mean time we're all busy preparing for the 2008 season.  Our plan is to run much the same schedule we did last year.  River Cities, Grand Forks, ND, Knoxville Raceway, Knoxville IA, and Husets Speeday, Sioux Falls, SD.  We probably will miss a few more dates at Grand Forks when the WOO is in the area.

AUTO RACING: Dobmeier lands racing deals

By Wayne Nelson, Herald Staff Writer
Published Wednesday, September 12, 2007

Fall is approaching. The seasonal change means cooler temperatures and an end to the racing season at River Cities Speedway, the track Mark Dobmeier has dominated the past few seasons.

For Dobmeier, however, the season remains as hot as it was earlier this summer.

Dobmeier has landed a one-night ride in a World of Outlaws car and will race tonight in Spencer, Iowa, where the country's top sprint car drivers will run a 30-lap feature on a three-eighths mile track.

It's a fill-in deal, Dobmeier said. It's just for this race.

Dobmeier will drive the car Brooke Tatnell has raced this season. Tatnell's future with the Volcano Joe's Coffee racing team is unsettled. Dobmeier, however, said he doesn't know if he'll drive the No. 2 sprint with the Outlaws after tonight.

But Dobmeier's season will continue long after the Outlaws conclude their season in early November.

The Grand Forks driver has agreed to race in Australia - a sprint-car hotbed - from November through January. A number of full-time WoO drivers race in Australia during the winter including Donny Schatz, the Outlaws' season points leader.

Dobmeier will drive for car owner and engine builder Geoff Kendrick.

Kendrick approached Dobmeier about racing in Australia.

He found me, Dobmeier said. He was looking for a U.S. driver to come over and drive one of his cars. He usually does that each year.

I'll be racing around Perth in November, but we'll be at the big races all over the country in December and January.

Kendrick hired Brock Mays to run his car last season. Two years ago, veteran racer Dean Jacobs drove for Kendrick. Jacobs, an Ohio driver, won the World Series of Sprintcars for Kendrick in 2006.

Dobmeier's crew chief, Ethan Thompson, also will head to Australia. The two have been together since Dobmeier began his racing career.

The decision to race in Australia wasn't an easy one for Dobmeier, who has 19 feature wins this season.

It was one of the toughest decisions I've ever made in my life, Dobmeier said. I bought (Forx Radiator) a year ago, so it was a tough decision whether to go.
